Key Roles

Wow! Time flies! It's hard to believe this will be my eight year as the principal of DCS. It is a great place, full of amazing students and dedicated staff. This year, my primary teaching focus will be to provide a weekly leadership class K-8 and run our high school Leadership Team.

I was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan but grew up just outside of Sherwood Park, Alberta. I have a BEd (1993) and an MEd (2005) from the University of Alberta. My first teaching job was at Fort Saskatchewan Junior High School during the spring of 1993. While I was working in "The Fort", I was hired to teach at Eastview Community School and moved to Red Deer in August 1993. Since then, I have been proud to call Red Deer home. From 1993 - 2000, I taught Creative Writing, Drama, Environmental and Outdoor Education, Language Arts, Physical Education and Social Studies at Eastview. In September 2001, I became the vice principal at Eastview and in 2004, I got the opportunity to be the vice principal at Glendale Middle School. In 2006, my career took an interesting turn when I was transferred Grandview Elementary School. My oldest son was in kindergarten at that school and the next seven years were wonderful. I was vice principal and I taught grades 3,4, and 5. Best of all, I got to watch my children grow up in the amazing school I worked at.

My wife, Lori, is a registered nurse. We have two sons. Connor is 20 and Jeff is 18. Connor is in his first year at SAIT. Jeff graduated last year and is taking a gap year to work. We also have an 12 year old Portuguese Water Dog/Pyrenees Cross named Tux. When I am not at the school, you will probably find me in a hockey arena or in the great outdoors. We love camping, fishing, hiking and mountain biking.

I feel very fortunate to lead our students and staff. Delburne is a wonderful community to be part of and I'm incredibly proud of our school's participation in the community. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have questions or concerns!
