2012 Senior Boys Volleyball Coach Needed

We currently do not have a Senior Boys Volleyball coach for the 2012 season. Volleyball gets started early in September, so it would be nice to have a coach in place prior to the start of next school year. Tournament invitations are already being sent out, so the sooner we can get things organized the better. If you are interested in possibly taking on this position please contact Jackson Marfleet at jmarfleet@chinooksedge.ab.ca or at 403-749-3838.

Senior High Track and Field

The Senior High Track & Field team will start practicing on Wednesday, Apr. 25 and Thursday, Apr. 26 at 3:30pm. If you are interested in joining the team, please attend one of these practices or see Mr. Wirtanen as soon as possible. Permission forms and payment are due to Mr. Wirtanen no later than Tuesday, May 8th. The Area Track Meet will take place at LTCHS in Red Deer on Tuesday, May 15th. Athletes that qualify in the top two at Areas will move on to the Zone meet in Camrose on Wednesday, May 23.

JH Track and Field to Begin Soon!

Upon the completion of the CENAA Badminton Tournament on May 5th, our Junior High Track and Field team will be out on the field, getting themselves ready for the CENAA track meet on June 6th!! This year, Ms. Kozey is back on the coaching staff, and practices times will be made available up to 4 times a week!! Please check the calendar for specific dates. We am looking forward to working with our track athletes again, and will be pushing them hard to improve, and hopefully bring home the third banner of the 2012 year!!

CWAJHAA Badminton, Here We Come!!!

Congratulations to our CENAA JH Badminton team for their performances this past weekend. This was a successful season for our program, with one team advancing to CWAJHAA next Friday in Sylvan Lake, and another team winning bronze!! The top two teams in each category move on to the next level! The Grade 7 Mixed Doubles team of Cheyanne Schmaltz and Jacob Schlag won first in their category, and will be representing not only Delburne School, but Chinooks Edge at the CWAJHAA competition on Friday, May 11th! Best of luck Cheyanne and Jacob!! The Grade 8 Mixed Doubles team of Travis Soosay and Jaydee Bourne also medalled at the tourney this year, bringing home the Bronze. Congratulations! Several teams this year were close to making the playoff round, but lost in the tie-breaking game, barring advancement. In total, 27 Delburne Junior High athletes competed in the CENAA badminton tournament on Saturday.

Delburne to be Represented at AB Summer Games!!

Two junior high students from our school will be competing this year at the Alberta Summer Games this July in Lethbridge, AB! Janelle Volker (grade 9) and Samantha Overwater (grade 8) were selected for the Zone 4 basketball team this past weekend! Congratulations, girls!!!! Three other Delburne Track and Field athletes have expressed interest in trying out for Zone 4 Athletics, which take place on May 28th and/or June 8th! Parker Fox (Grade 10) and Halley Flexhaug (Grade 10) are considering attending the tryouts, as is Becky Davidson (Grade 9). Becky also competed in the Alberta Winter Games this past February in women’s hockey, as did Jaydee Bourne on the volleyball team. I think it is so fantastic that so many of our local athletes are faring so well!! This is in huge part to the fantastic volunteer coaches in and around Delburne that are so willing to commit their time and energy to our youth!! Best of luck in tryouts, Parker, Halley and Becky, and all the best to Janelle and Sam!!! We will be cheering for you!!!
