With one league game left in the season, the JH A girls are assured a berth to the 2012 1J CWAJHAA competition in Rocky Mountain House on March 8th and 9th! They are, to date, undefeated in their league and tournament play, but their greatest challenge will take place next Tuesday, Feb 21st against River Glen! This game will determine the winner of the CENAA banner!! Go Girls!!! The JH boys are having a great season, but are not quite guaranteed a CWAJHAA spot…YET! A tough game against Destiny afforded the 2nd placed berth to CWAJHAA to Destiny, but the boys are not out of the contention!! Playoffs start next week, and should the JH Trojans place high enough, they will have the other berth. Their CWAJHAA competition will be March 8th and 9th as well, but in Alix! Best of luck, boys!! The Junior High B Girls have been experiencing their share of success this year as well! After a few losses at the beginning of the year, the girls have been working hard to improve their skills! These efforts are paying off!! Early this week, the girls played a triple header in Stettler and came home the winner of all three games! Thursday of this week they faced Elnora for the third time this season. After suffering two losses against this team, the girls pulled out a win!! Congratulations, Ladies!!!
Wins have not come easily this year for our two senior basketball teams. With only one grade 12 on our Senior Girls team and no grade 12 students on our Senior Boys teams it can definitely be looked at as a building season….with a few bumps along the way. However, they do seem to be gaining some confidence down the stretch. On Tuesday, February 21 the St. Dominics Huskies from Rocky came to Delburne to play our Trojans. The Senior Girls and Boys Basketball teams both got to celebrate their last home games of the season with wins. The night started off by our boys defeating St. Doms by a score of 71 – 53. The Sr. Girls followed that up with a 37 – 29 victory. Both teams last league game of the year will be on Wednesday, February 29 in Pigeon Lake. Hopefully the teams can make it back to back wins to end the season, and build some momentum heading into the playoffs and for next year.
